Raymarine has released an exciting new RADAR called Quantum. The RADAR utilizes solid-state tech to do away with the magnetron. This means no warm-up time, no dangerous radiation and no expensive RADAR magnetron replacement costs every so-many hours of operation when targets start to diminish. It has impressive short range definition, I could see moorings and defferentiate between closely packed targets. Although limited in longer ranges I could pick up coast at 12-14m, which is suitable for most recreational and small commercial applications or as a back-up on larger vessels to supplement the RADAR already onboard.
